Visa (V) Gains But Lags Market: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Visa (V - Free Report) closed at $218.17, marking a +0.06% move from the previous day. This move lagged the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.14%. Meanwhile, the Dow gained 0.25%, and the Nasdaq, a tech-heavy index, lost 0.33%.

Heading into today, shares of the global payments processor had gained 12.53% over the past month, outpacing the Business Services sector's gain of 2.95% and the S&P 500's gain of 4.32% in that time.

Wall Street will be looking for positivity from Visa as it approaches its next earnings report date. On that day, Visa is projected to report earnings of $1.69 per share, which would represent year-over-year growth of 19.01%. Meanwhile, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenue is projecting net sales of $6.77 billion, up 19% from the year-ago period.
